What makes Sound and Solar Film so special?
Incredibly - Sound and Solar Film offers 40% more acoustic protection than standard PVB, as well as being 40% better at screening out solar heat (IR) energy, while at the same time enabling enough visible light to be transmitted through the film.
Increased passenger comfort
S-LEC™ Sound and Solar Film is a multifunctional interlayer film that shields the vehicle cabin from heat and noise, enhancing passenger comfort levels for a more enjoyable driving experience. Compared with standard PVB, tests show that with Sound and Solar Film the temperature in the cabin is 10 degrees cooler. And wind, engine and traffic noise is substantially reduced. Another comforting feature of Sound and Solar Film is that it doesn't block the radio waves emitted from radios and mobile phones.

From preventing splintering to protection against vandalism, Sound and Acoustic Film has all the standard properties of an S-LEC™ product. Plus, clothing, artwork, artefacts and other items displayed in windows are better protected against sun damage and there's less skin irritation because ultraviolet radiation (UV) is reduced by 99%.
Sound and Solar Film: made possible by multi-layer and fine particle technologies
S-LEC™ Sound and Solar Film is achieved by sandwiching a sound insulation resin layer and a colored layer between PVB, and evenly distributing solar control particles on that multi-layer structure. Now technology from Sekisui allows particles to be distributed evenly in a multi-layered, ultra-thin interlayer film.
Cut sound energy down to a third
As evident in the graph, S-LEC™ Sound and Solar Film effectively controls low-frequency vibration energy from the engine and reduces the shrilling noise of wind. These figures show that audible noise is reduced to a third of its original loudness.
Cut heat rays from sunlight and wasteful fuel use
Mid-infrared rays of 1,500 to 2,100 nm in wavelength result in a burning sensation on the skin, and increase cabin temperature. S-LEC™ Sound and Solar Film effectively cuts solar rays in this wavelength band. Controlling the temperature rise translates into less air conditioner use, greatly improving fuel economy.*
Radio waves across most frequency bands are not blocked, letting through mobile phone and electronic toll collection (ETC) signals, problem-free.
